Transportation Dangers and Solutions

The Key Issue

Our connected north/south streets were designed to be used and classified as “local” or “neighborhood” streets.  However, due to past failures of urban planning and traffic engineering, they are currently used and classified as “minor arterials”.  Without being adapted for such usage, they are now hazardous and negatively impact our quality of life.  This page serves to organize the various problems and potential solutions.

Problems
  • High Speeds
  • Disproportionate growth of one street over others
  • High traffic volume (number of vehicles)
  • Noise
Potential Solutions
  • Road Diets / Safety Sizing
  • Reduced Speed Limit
  • Road bumps
  • Roundabouts
  • Bump-outs
  • Increased CSPD patrols
