Showing our Support and Thanks
Here is a note a neighbor sent us:
As a neighbor here in the Old North End and a resident of Colorado Springs my heart aches as I know it does for all of us here in Colorado Springs during the fires.
I was trying to think of a way to show that we are praying for and supporting those who have lost homes, those who are evacuated and firefighters who risk their lives daily.
I am going to tie a large red and blue ribbon* in my front yard and also place one on my car so that those effected know they are being thought of and supported during this difficult time.
I am going to place a ribbon in front of my home and I hope others (particularly on Wood Avenue) would join me in showing this support for our firefighters and friends who have lost their homes here in Colorado SpringsPlease tie a large red and blue ribbon in a prominent place in your front yard as well as a small one on your car. This will show a sign of support for all of who want to work together to help our community.
Thank you for your consideration. I hope we can work together on this sign of support for our neighbors.

*The International Firefighters recognize the red and blue ribbon as the symbol of support for fire fighters. The IFFD ribbons are linked to colors symbolic of the main elements firefighters work with – red for fire and blue for water. These colors also are internationally recognized as representing emergency service.
